I’d describe my work as a hybrid of painting and assemblage. Put simply, my process involves cutting up my own visual materials and reconstructing the pieces ‘out of order’, celebrating the beauty of misalignment and chance. Sometimes this will take the form of a stripped-back, graphical composition, other times, as a semi-abstract landscape based on travel sketches and memory. In 2023, I set myself a challenge to make 36 trips out of London over the year (3 per month) which took me to Norway, Brittany, Croatia and all over the UK. I’m never happier than when daydreaming and I do this best staring out of a train window or up a hill somewhere.
